Monthly crime data available

24 October 2014

What is it? The police.uk web site was launched in 2011 as part of the government's drive on transparency. The site allows the public to see crime levels in their area and to see what action the police and criminal justice agencies are doing to tackle crime and anti-social behaviour. The data that underpins the police.uk site is also published as open data and this is now being added to the Wakefield Observatory each month for wards, the seven areas and the district as a whole.

Example statistic: there has been a large drop in the number of burglaries in the South East over the past few months - down from 50 offences in April 2014 to just 15 offences in August.
