New child poverty data

21 October 2014

What is it? The End Child Poverty campaign has recently published updated estimates of child poverty for wards and local authorities. The data show the proportion of children in an area who are in poverty, before and after housing costs are taken into consideration. The estimates are based on benefits data and adjusted to take into account the increasing number of working households that are on very low incomes.

Example statistic: After housing costs, 39% of children in Wakefield West ward are living in poverty, compared to 25% of children across the district as a whole.
