What is it? The Wakefield Unemployment Bulletin is a concise analysis of the latest unemployment trends, with details of change over time and differences in benefit claiming rates across the district's wards. The May 2014 edition of the bulletin is now available.

Example statistic: Labour market data for May 2014 shows the number of people out of work and claiming Job Seekers Allowance (JSA) in the Wakefield district fell for the third month in a row decreasing by 300 claimants (-4.3%). The claimant count now stands at 6,731 or 3.2% of the working age population which is the lowest level since December 2008. At 3.2%, the district rate is lower than the regional rate (3.4%) but slightly above that of GB as a whole (2.6%)..
