New data in the Seven Area Profiles

27 February 2014

What is it? The Seven Area profiles provide a broad range of statistics, charts and maps to describe local conditions and how these have changed over time. The content of the profiles is always under review and suggestions for new data are always welcomed (intelligence@wakefield.gov.uk). Recent additions include information on how the population's age profile has changed since 2001, fuel poverty, child poverty and descriptions of local greenspace and wildlife.

Example statistic: In Wakefield Rural, 17.1% of the population are aged 0-15 years - the lowest proportion of any of the Seven Areas. In Wakefield Central, 30.7% of children (0-15) are dependent on a parent or guardian who is claiming an out-of-work benefit - in Wakefield North West the proportion is 12.0%. Fuel poverty is highest in the South East, where 10.4% of households have low income coupled with high fuel costs.

Where to find it: On the Wakefield Observatory home page, click on the Seven Area link on the left-most side of the window, under Ward Profiles. Or click on the links below.
