Background

  • A good transport network is vital for the local economy, connecting people with jobs, and Wakefield Together aim to encourage sustainable travel and schemes which improve the environment and the quality of life of citizens. The district has massive potential for housing and employment growth, and it is recognised that improved transport facilities will be needed over the next few years to support this growth.

  • In 2014, 8 people were killed in road accidents, and 112 people were seriously injured. The number of fatalities has been falling steadily, as have the number of casualties with slight injuries. In 2014 there were 11 children seriously injured in road accidents, but no children killed. (24th September 2015)
