The web is awash with useful sources of data and information. We've tried to pick the more useful and relevant websites - essentially the ones we have used ourselves to populate the Leeds Observatory. Whilst we’ve listed some of the key ones, you’ll also find more links on each of the themed pages under ‘External Data’. If we’ve missed any, please contact the Leeds Observatory Team and we’ll add them in if appropriate.

  • The Leeds Data Mill
  • This is our partner website, also managed by Leeds City Council, that acts as the open data platform for the council. The site constantly adds new data from public, private and third sector providers.

  • The data page of Police.uk Website
  • This is the site for open data about crime and policing in England, Wales and Northern Ireland. You can download street-level crime and outcome data in clear and simple CSV format and explore the API containing detailed crime data and information about individual police forces and neighbourhood teams.

  • The ONS 2011 Census Website
  • This is the homepage of the Office for National Statistics 2011 Census outputs. Census statistics help paint a picture of the nation and how we live. They provide a detailed snapshot of the population and its characteristics, and underpin funding allocation to provide public services.

  • Statistics at DCLG
  • This is the homepage of the Department for Communities and Local Government (DCLG) statistics. DCLG collects and publishes official statistics relating to deprivation, fire and rescue services, housing and homelessness, local government finance, planning performance and land use.

  • Public Health England
  • This website has information on the nation’s health and wellbeing, aiming to reduce health inequalities.
